Call for Abstracts
 

The Office of Population Affairs, Office of Family Planning invites you to submit abstracts for oral and/or poster presentations at the "3rd National Title X Family Planning Grantee Meeting: Policy, Research, and Service" on September 19-20, 2006, in Phoenix, Arizona.  Oral presentations should be 15 to 20 minutes in length and will be presented during conference breakout sessions.  Posters will be displayed during the networking session. The presentation should be relevant to one or more of the following areas of focus:

11.  Parental Involvement (P)

2.  HPV (P)

12.  Infant Adoption

3.  Infertility Prevention Projects

13.  Couples Services/Healthy Marriages/Healthy Relationships

4.  Performance Measurement

14.  Intimate Partner Violence

5.  Clinic Efficiency

15.  Integration of Male Services

6.  Cultural Competency

16.  HIV Integration/ABC/Rapid Testing

7.  Collaboration & Community Networks

17.  Research from the Field

8.  Health Promotion, Information & Education (P)

18.  Quality Care: Ensuring Organizational Cultural Competence

9.  Outreach Strategies (P)

19.  Innovative Policy, Research&/or Service (P)

10.  Adolescent Services

20.  Ethical Issues in  FP Practice & Research Including Contraceptive care

* (P) indicates topics that will only be presented in poster format

All abstracts should have clearly stated objectives and a description of the implications for policy or practice.  Abstracts should:

  • Provide contact information for the presenter, co-presenters (if any) for the program referenced and location of program

  • Indicate preference for either a poster or oral presentation

  • Provide a description of the population served,  key issues to be addressed and the main messages/conclusions

  • Have all abbreviations and acronyms explained

  • Not be longer than 250 words

  • Not include diagrams, tables, or other illustrative materials

Process

Abstracts will be selected based on the overall relevance of the topic to the priority areas of the meeting, the degree to which the general conclusions are drawn, and the applicability of the conclusions to policy and practice.  Submissions will be reviewed within the Office of Population Affairs/Office of Family Planning.

Once abstracts have been selected, no changes in topic or focus will be permitted.  The submitting author will be the presenter unless otherwise indicated and is responsible for informing any co-authors of the status of the abstract. 

Deadline for receipt of abstracts is June 16, 2006. Participants whose abstracts have been accepted for oral and poster presentations will be notified by July 7, 2006. 

Presenters will be required to submit their full presentation materials to the Office of Family Planning prior to August 1, 2006. Presenters selected for oral presentations may apply for limited scholarships to cover travel expenses if they would not otherwise be participating in the conference.
